About us

Motivated by the absence of independent and readily available knowledge to assist startup companies in their development of novel food initiatives, Novus R&D was created by Mauricio Bobadilla in 2008.

A functional and effective infrastructure was created to research, develop and coordinate the manufacturing of new products with the goal of providing an alternative to companies striving to be at the forefront of health and wellness trends through the indulgence of confectionery products.

We are world leaders in the development of organic, natural, non-GMO, Reduced or sugar-free confections.

NOVUS R&D transfers science and technology to applications within the food industry with a specific focus on functional products using a confectionary knowledge platform. We are highly recognized as global experts in gum base, chewing/bubble gum, pressed candy, gummies, chocolate and other sweets.

Mauricio Bobadilla

Novus R&D president profile

Colombian/Canadian Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with over 30 years of experience in the Food, Beverage and Confectionery industries. With his vast experience in Research, Product Development and Food Safety. He has helped startup and world renowned companies to achieve business growth and recognition in the marketplace.

He started his career as a chemist developing products for the dental industry, followed by a position as plant chemist for Coca-Cola Co. in Bogota, Colombia. In 1994, he moved to Canada and managed QA/RD for Concord Confections, Oak Leaf Confections, served as Director of RD/QA for Chocolate Frey (US and Canada) and subsequently became Vice-president for Knechtel Laboratories (US).
